About this story
When the stars come out, little dragon Ziggy opens a shimmering portal to a secret kingdom in the sky. Tonight, he has a very special guest — you. Together you'll soar past cloud-castles, meet sleepy fireflies, glide through candy-coloured skies, and find the cosiest pillow-cloud in all the dreaming world. A tender, wonder-filled journey designed to ease little listeners gently into sleep.
The sky outside your window was turning the colour of blackberries and honey. One by one… the stars blinked open, like tiny silver eyes.
And just as the last bit of pink melted from the clouds, something very small… and very magical… came fluttering through the dusk.
It was a dragon. A little one — no bigger than a kitten — with scales that shimmered like soap bubbles and wings as soft as flower petals.
His name was Ziggy.
Ziggy landed on your windowsill with the tiniest tap-tap-tap of his claws, and he peeked inside with two big, golden eyes.
"Are you awake?" he whispered. "It's almost time…"
Time for what, you wondered? You sat up in your cosy bed, blinking at him.
Ziggy puffed a little cloud of sparkles from his nose — pfff — and the sparkles spelled out one shimmering word in the air.
DREAMS.
"Every night," Ziggy said, "I fly to a secret place high above the clouds. A kingdom… made just for bedtime."
"And tonight," he said, fluttering closer, "I would very much like to take YOU."
You smiled. You pulled your blanket around your shoulders like a little cape. And you whispered back, "Yes, please."
Ziggy's wings hummed with happiness. He bowed his little head, and his scales glowed a soft, sleepy gold.
"Then climb on," he said. "Hold tight… and don't forget to breathe slowly. The sky likes slow breathers best."
